We will be conducting Trinidad’s 2nd Wellness Training Seminar entitled “Developing Successful Wellness Programmes”, at the Cascadia Hotel and Conference Center in St. Ann’s, October 9-10, 2008 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
In keeping with our regional mandate (CARICOM Heads of government meeting, 2007) of overcoming the ‘silent tsunami’ of chronic disease, workplace wellness programmes have become a necessity as employers seek to forge partnerships with the health team encouraging the development of healthy working environments. The main goals of this form of health promotion are to improve employee health by reducing the risk of chronic lifestyle problems such as heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, cancer and HIV/AIDS; to improve productivity and performance and while reducing the risk of injury and overall health care costs
We have sought to customize our training seminar to target the needs identified from a brief survey, as well as provide a programme that is strong in content, high in transferability, modifiable to the work culture and impacting on workplaces. The programme is geared towards Health Professionals, Human Resource Managers, Employee Welfare/Benefit Managers, Training and Development Officers, Financial Controllers and the Decision Makers of your company.
Participants will learn how to plan and design their own wellness programmes, increase participation of the staff and track their progress, also measure and evaluate the results, whilst producing a positive return on investment.
We are pleased to have, as our main speaker, Mrs. Patricia Figaro-Fletcher, author of “The Corporate Wellness Programme Design Manual,” a user friendly tool for building wellness programmes, produced on request for the Ministry of Health, Jamaica. She was also the chair for the lead group for developing standards at the National Training Agency, NCTVET in ‘Wellness Programme Design’ and the recipient of the Environmental Health Foundation Award for excellence, individual category, for her contribution in the field of Wellness in Jamaica.
Complimentary health risk assessments will be offered to each participant, inclusive of a 10 minute work-out on both days with valuable preventive health tips interlaced. Registration fees also include a copy of Mrs. Figaro-Fletcher’s manual in CD , power-point presentations with group sessions and resource CD, lunch and break each day.
